Gregory Plein (born in Amsterdam, 1968) is a universal artist. Calm, yet strong-willed. Sensitive, yet direct: his eclectic character and open mindedness come out in his style, the materials he uses and the topics in his artwork.

Greg is a soulful painter. He took his first steps into art during adolescence, when he got scooped up in the Amsterdam graffiti scene. Working on the ‘tags’ gave him an incentive; he was doing something he loved. Music and art are linked in the mindset of this artist as grafitti is connected to hip hop. Greg’s creative foundation lies within the influence that music has on his life.
When Greg decided to switch from spray can to brush the painter in him finally felt a sense of belonging. He had found the medium to best express himself on every canvas he touched. The result is a collection of paintings that can be described as a journey through the mind of a man struggling with -and simultaneously- enjoying adulthood.
Greg is a productive artist. Among the work that he does now, 20 years after his initiation, are commissioned graffiti-style murals, true to his origins. Also he has produced a line of portraits that depicts his life’s surroundings. Other work includes masks, textures and a rainforest series.

Greg is always searching the boundaries of his abilities in order to challenge his limitations. This is why he dabbles in both abstract and figurative styles and finds a way to cross over successfully.
Gregory Plein’s impressive collection contains a versatility that astonishes. And the fact that this painter is self-taught is a definite plus in this case.
